Melbourne Newborn Photographer

Natural and relaxed newborn photography in Melbourne. In-home or studio sessions that capture those raw, fleeting early days.

They really do grow up in the blink of an eye… even if the nights feel very long

Everyone says it — “it goes so fast.” And you nod, exhausted, wondering how anything can go fast when you’re counting feeds, managing tears (theirs and yours), and trying to remember the last time you drank a hot cup of tea.

But one day, you’ll look up and that tiny curled-up newborn will be wobbling their way across the living room, babbling actual words, and somehow fitting into clothes that look suspiciously grown-up.

The newborn days are raw and tender

A strange mix of blur and beauty. And while we can’t slow down time (or magically get them to sleep through the night), we can gently pause the moment and preserve it.

Fuzzy skin, curled toes, sleepy stretches, those little milk-drunk faces — they’re fleeting. But together, we’ll quietly document them. No big lights, no pressure, no stiff poses — just calm, cosy, real-life moments you’ll want to hold onto forever.

*Newborn sessions will have a 2 hour time allocation to allow for any feedings, changes or settling.

Combination packages can be used towards: Maternity, family & fresh 48 sessions within 12 months.

(E.g. newborn session & 1 year session)

Kind Words

My Family and I had an absolutely wonderful experience having our newborn family photos taken. Dani is polite, friendly and professional and a pleasure to work with. The photos captured are amazing! 10/10 Thank you Dani

Kendal

Dani photographed my family for my Mum’s 60th. The photos are amazing and we are all so happy with them! Dani was great to work with and created a relaxed vibe. My siblings and I all had so much fun together and we cannot recommend Dani enough!!

Conlan Family

Dani visited us in hospital the day after having our son Archie and I am so glad she did! It’s a little daunting inviting someone into your newborn bubble, but Dani made us feel so comfortable. She has given us some beautiful, timeless photographs of our son which we will treasure forever.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we hire a professional Melbourne family photographer for our family portraits?

Hiring someone who has experience with children, can remain calm and roll with the punches (because kids be kids) plus having little tricks (without the bribery) is the key!

How can we book a family photography session with you?

It’s a super easy process, get in touch, and I’ll send you an invoice & the paperwork; you pay the booking fee & sign the contract, and we’re locked in!

What is your approach to capturing natural and candid family moments?

I find it best to get you and the family into a desirable position, then give the kids little games & things to do while I am taking photos. This lets moments unfold and allows those natural moments.

Can you recommend scenic family photography locations in Melbourne?

I absolutely can, I have a good handful of locations that I can recommend. I also have my little Sunbury studio which will be opening in April 2024.

What advice can you give us for coordinating outfits for our family photos?

Try to dress everyone in a colour palette (I’ll send examples in my family guide) and avoid bold patterns and large logos. Dress the kids in things they can move in, and dress yourself in something you’re comfortable in (i.e. if you don’t like dresses, don’t wear a dress!)

Do you offer different family photography packages? What do they include?

I doubt not in different prices bring different amount of images. I want you to have all the images so the two packages are for a studio session (in my in home studio in Sunbury) and then a Big Wide World session (anything outside of the studio).
Both contain 50+ images.

How long does it take to receive the edited family photos after the session?

I aim to have back within 4-6 weeks but sometimes in peak times this can take a little longer.

What happens if the weather is unfavourable on the scheduled session day?

We have several different options.

  1. Ride with it (we can’t control the weather) and stick with the original location (this usually isn’t my go-to with young kids, especially if it’s cold).
  2. ride with it but change location
  3. We will reschedule and have our fingers crossed for better weather.
How do you ensure that our family's unique dynamics and personalities shine through in the photos?

My biggest advice here is to let the kids be kids. I find using bribes or demanding kids do certain things usually backfires, and you end up with the biggest grump face. If they need to do running laps around you or go for an aeroplane ride, let it happen.
