Styled Shoot in Adelaide, Australia I A Colorful Adventure At Upstairs Studio

Life is too short not to take risks and go after what looks beautiful in your eyes, especially because everyone is going to have an opinion of what you're doing anyways!

DANIBARTLETTPHOTOGRAPHY - July carpark shoot-109

When the urge to be unique hit, there was no turning back. Everyone wants to make their mark in life, and that can take on many forms - whether it's a daring new hairdo or an unconventional elopement-style photoshoot! Life is too short not to take risks and go after what looks beautiful in your eyes, especially because everyone is going to have an opinion of what you're doing anyways!

That's why I knew when a vision struck of a simple elopement-styled shoot with a mini dress, colourful flowers, and some sort of hairpiece, I had to do something about it!

Picking out the perfect details for a styled shoot

Finding the right vendors and details for this styled shoot is a big part of the process, and I wanted to make sure it was perfect. From the dress to the studio, each detail makes a difference, and I wanted to make sure it exuded the feeling of romance and beauty.

Dress: Elope Bridal

The perfect dress for this shoot was waiting at Elope Bridal. This relatively new dress company based in Perth features affordable mini dresses – perfect! When I got in touch with Sonia, she was all in, had the perfect dress, and very quickly sent it over to me!

Florals: Sweet Nothings Flowers

Next up, flower choice. I knew exactly who I wanted to use for bright and fun florals – Carolyn at Sweet Nothings Flowers. And boy, did she deliver on the colour! With vivid colours and beautiful textures, these handmade bouquets were the perfect addition.

Headpiece: Homemade

Finally, I needed to figure out the headpiece I wanted for the photo shoot. After weeks of searching to find the perfect confetti veil, none were what I envisioned. So, I found the material and made them myself. I made an elbow-length veil and knee-length veil and a bow with the excess material. However, in the end, I loved the bow so much that it's all I left!

The Models: Mel & Dan

Our lovely couple, Mel & Dan, were the perfect couple for this shoot! A little bit wild, not a lot of f*^ks given (except Dan, who's not a lover of cameras but absolutely nailed it and was such a good sport!), and we're up for anything!

Studio Space: Upstairs Studio

The dream I had of shooting on top of the carpark was crumbling in the days leading up to the shoot. So instead, booking Upstairs Studio was the best decision as we were able to start the session in the studio and then head over to the carpark.

The result? Absolute magic!
